Dr. Gudrun Curri, the first non-academic Registrar at UTSC, reflects upon her time at UTSC from the early 1970s to the late 1980s. Having first worked at UTSG, Gudrun discusses the impression of Scarborough and UTSC from the St. George perspective, mentioning the nickname of “Scarberia” and the misconception that UTSC was an easy campus to enrol in as a last resort. These impressions are contrasted against Gudrun’s own experience and the initiatives she led regarding student recruitment and retention. Gudrun particularly highlights the work and support provided by a past principal of UTSC, Joan Foley, who bridged UTSC’s past with its present potential.
