Catharine Pickett, a retired demonstrator and lecturer in Biology starting in 1968, shares her memories of the Scarborough community and Scarborough College's garden club, as well as her experiences in teaching at the college. She speaks about the significant changes to the area around UTSC over the years. Catharine describes the close and connected atmosphere of the school when she was teaching, both among faculty and students, and how that introduced her to disciplines she would have never otherwise engaged with. She explains the origins of the UTSC Garden Club, and how it became a meeting place for people from the college and surrounding community to learn about different food practices. Catharine speaks about the increasing professionalization of lecturing, and her thankfulness for the community and connections she found at UTSC.
